I was just thinking to myself that I hadn't seen a substack from Daniel in a while. I sat down watching the office with my wife and two young kids, opened a Heineken, and went to check my email. What a pleasant surprise! I really enjoy your stories. Here's to Dutch beer, cheers.
One starts reading a Mr. McAdams substack essay and it just goes along with precision and interesting anecdotal material (well worth reading), and then always--BANG, it turns on a dime to being a gut-wrenchingly beautiful (Robert Frost like) elegy of nostalgic pain, almost, that burns like fire. Again, just wow!

Wow Daniel.
I totally get it. Thank you for writing.
What a great story! Daniel, you look like a Hobbit in Hobbiton. Is Amstel Light a Dutch Pilsner? The project turned out very well.
Projects are fun to do. I always felt lucky if I received a 50% return on my labors and investment of time.
I too was just thinking, "it has been awhile since McAdams wrote anything." This piece hits home for me.

Thank you Jay. I hope you had a small whiskey when reading it.
